I think this guy is on to something in his analysis of romanticism. I never saw romanticism in that light, but looking at it the way expressed in this quote:

For the Romantic artist, being ashamed is a good thing. It means that you refuse to confuse the tool with the truth.

it does make sense... Romantic artists paint stuff, but they all agree that nature is better than whatever they could paint.
