Hubski: A few suggestions and ideas.
I guess it’s free to assume that the developers and administrators of this website are open to ideas so I’ve listed a few of them that I feel are good ideas for the future. Community members feel free to tweak upon my ideas or tell me how awful they are!
By the way, I’m only comparing certain things to Reddit that I feel are necessary, I understand that Hubski is not Reddit and shouldn't be fully compared to the website but as it currently stands I’d like to avoid certain problems that Reddit had and currently has if you don’t mind me doing so,
Hubski and image linking. At the moment I like how image linking isn't necessarily partook in the Hubski community. Most Reddit posts were only linked to an image and the only context about the image was in the title of the post, which left little room for discussion and more room for really bland and stupid jokes. I suggest that Hubski continues being more of a text based website, I've found more discussion about shit here than I have in Reddit in the last month, I’m really enjoying it.
Hubski Discussion. Hubski seems pretty open on discussions at the moment because there is no real way to negatively impact a post without writing a response to it. This makes people think and have to read what someone is saying and write a replay to prove points, this creates a good read and to me really diversifies opinions on certain subjects. Reddit’s upvote downvote system really ensures that users think the same way, the popular opinion gets upvoted and the unpopular opinion gets downvoted no matter how good of a point the post brings up or how constructive it is. It really destroys a good discussion and restricts people from being able to speak out against certain things. I feel that the way Hubski currently runs its content is good, there is only a way to positively affect comments and in all honesty I believe it should stay that way.
Hubski #Communities. (Last thing about Reddit I promise.) Reddit had default subreddits and that really ruined it. I feel that all communities (or hashtags whatever you want to call them) should be equal and show up in a feed like every other post. This allows for everyone to yet again get their opinions, content, and discussion out about something without having to go against a blockade of the defaulted masses. Along with this people should be able to delete/block a post from their feed if they don’t like it, so they don’t have to stare at it for twenty-four hours.
Hubski formatting. While you guys are busy and I understand this I feel that we should add a few more formatting such as subscripts, lists, and highlights so people can really point out key parts of their discussion. (and a tl;dr code that highlights it in blue would be pretty cool too.) Also a way to write in advanced text, it brings up a bigger text box with short cuts and easy access to ways to format your thread.
Thank you for taking the time to read my ideas and suggestions and I hope they are in par with what your ideas for the community are!
