So why is the U.S. intervening now?
Abiy Ahmed and Isaias Afwerki made peace and Abiy got the ole Nobel Peace prize but behind the scenes they were making a genocide alliance against the Tigrayan people. Both nations have been doing what they can to starve out the Tigrayan people. Total Aung San Suu Kyi size boner for the peace prize once again.
Tigrayans amount to less than 10% of the population of Ethiopia but they are also the best fighters in Ethiopia. It looked real bad for them a year ago. They were getting hit with weaponized drones from the Eritrean forces and the Ethiopian forces were making steady headway. They are the Houthi's of the horn. They are now pushing deep into governmental territory while the women and kids are still starving back home.
Ethiopia and Eritrea took a stab at wiping the Tigrayen people off the face of the earth and the U.S. didn't intervene all that hard. Was the lack of action just the difference between administrations? Maybe this is the first time there is a chance that both side will make concessions?
BBC coverage seems to bias toward the governments position anytime that it isn't just a fucking morally awful position to take. I find that strange. Maybe I've got a Sandinista bias.
