We'd do well to take a much more cautious approach to biologically-active compounds that we produce. Just as it is nigh impossible to make a drug that has no side effects, it is nigh impossible to release a biologically-active compound in the environment/food supply without side effects.
The problem is that we gaslight when it comes to risks. We can only test for those risks we can measure and anticipate.
The truth is, we can probably never adequately know that a compound like glysophate is safe before it's put to wide-scale use. It's possible that we'd be better off modifying our demands in knowable means rather than meeting them with unknowable risks.
