I'm working on a large map of westeros for a friend, took a break from it last night and tried a self portrait on a small canvas I had. I had no idea how difficult it is to paint yourself! It's quite difficult to get a good picture with the lighting I have, some of the colours in the picture seem to have blended into the brown (My beard has far more red tint to it than this image let's on, for example).
I tried to be far more "free" in my brush strokes than Im used to. I have a habit of being meticulous in brush strokes, trying to match thickness and length but for this I've just let the paint fall where it may.
So let me know what you think of it, any tips for me? Judge my painting, and my face! (And if you notice an error in perspective, that's not a painting error, that's just my face.)
