I remember reading that in Detroit, we could expect about 2 feet of ash. -That's an interesting thought. This caldera erupts every 600-700k years, and it last erupted 640,000 years ago (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yellowstone_caldera). So, it seems to me that earth-bound humans will experience a large die-off in the next 50,000 years or so, whether we do it for ourselves or not.
