Thanks for that. I don't think I would have read this article otherwise. It leaves me wondering though; let's say humans are able to colonize a portion of the universe. Given the vast distances between human worlds and the amount of history occurring on each, not to mention the incredibly varied experiences common or uncommon to each world, it seems like a much broader definition of "human" would have to be developed quickly. I wonder what Bostrom's thoughts on what the human existence might look like at such a time. The amount of effort that would go into maintaining contact with even a handful of worlds is staggering.
