To me, this was a learning experience. The main lesson being that one has to be a moron to launch a weather balloon in winter. That's a great lesson of life. Well, not that lesson specifically, but moreso that patience is a virtue. However, we are not defeated. We will have a grander idea in the warmer months. Is there any popular support for a kickstarter? We were relying on a GPS unit that broadcasts its location to Verizon cell towers, and it thus can only be located when in contact with Verizon. To do this right, we need a much higher quality device. But, as with all things, you get what you pay for. A really good quality GPS locator that can be tracked in real time is expensive, not to mention the cameras, parachute and custom glass that all need to be replaced. We will think on it. Any ideas?
