I DON'T KNOW HOW BUT THEY FOUND ME is my latest discovery (literally yesterday), and I am seriously digging their ... nostalgic take on the 80s? ... knowledge and referencing of music history? ... bass-in-the-front-of-the-mix sound? ... bizarro self-deprecating lyrics? All of it? They are definitely steeped in an 80s pop stew, and their videos are perfect callbacks to that era and pay homage to bands like Devo and Kraftwerk... but they make a modern pop sound with some male falsetto vocals that harken back to Thomas Dolby and Gary Numan... with an almost Stranglers bass aesthetic and sound... They reference everything, and yet sound like nothing I'm aware of. (Which kind of reminds me of the early days of the World Inferno Friendship Society.) Do It All The Time New Invention Lights Go Down
