Happiness Wife's birthday tomorrow. We are going away for the weekend with her best friend, Sarah. Sarah had a daughter 14 years ago ON MY WIFE'S BIRTHDAY, so my wife and her daughter are birthday buddies. Bonus, is Sarah has a wonderful man in her life after a decade of focusing entirely on raising her daughter as a single mom, so we are all going to hang out and enjoy each other's company. (All vaxxed.) Sadly, our gorgeous 70-degree sunny days end tomorrow, and it's going to be raining and 50s all weekend. So more time by the fire and making waffles, for me! :-) Yard Work Also got 6 yards of gorgeous compost delivered yesterday for the front yard renovation project, and Mom has an entire pickup truck full of plants - dogwoods, daphne, butterfly bushes, japanese grasses, ferns, and some veggie seedlings - ready to plant when we are back home next week. Whee! Work Work Spent all day Saturday in the office, printing out a sales proposal that was 100 pages long, and needed 11 copies, and had to be shipped overnight on Saturday ... because the salesperson had utterly failed to do any of the work I needed him to do, so I could build the sales proposal. So I got to spend a gorgeous sunny Saturday in the dark, closed office, which I have not entered for 14 months. It was seriously post-apocalyptic. Think the first episode of The Walking Dead. Vending machine is still turned on... the expiration date on the bag of Lays potato chips is May 2020... HVAC running quietly... parking lots empty... dishes in the drying rack next to the sink... the slightest little hint of a layer of dust on my desk and monitor... the post-it note announcing that I am on vacation (March 2020) still stuck to my screen... It was weird. Rugby The Seattle Seawolves - my local pro rugby team - utterly suck this year. Just can't get it together, and have been utterly pantsed by all the other teams we have played. And that after winning TWO championships back to back. This season is going to be a long, hard, slog.
