The YIMBY movement can be summed up as "fuck your zoning my rent is too high" with some "your used housing is too expensive build me new for cheaper."

I helped design affordable housing in Seattle fifteen years ago. It's still there, right next to Amazon. However, the "affordable" part went to ex-shelter women and formerly homeless, is owned by the city, and is rented under subsidy. This does not help your average tech bro in the slightest therefore it doesn't count.

Every "affordable housing" project I have ever looked at is a national developer wanting to bypass parking, bathroom and kitchen requirements so they can rent dorm rooms to itinerant tech workers. Meanwhile,
