But every time something with one aesthetic gets retconned for an objectively worse aesthetic, people are gonna bitch even if they were never going to watch either version.

I had to buy a Porsche 911. It was the only sports car with a back seat. I've hated Porsche 911s my entire life. But by the time the car buying public had SUV'd their way through the marketplace, a 14-year-old Porsche 911 was the only sports car I could buy for less than $100k. And that's fucking retarded.
