I was under the impressions microagressions were the verbal equivalent to poking somebody until they want to punch you instead of something related to trauma. That’s nothing new either, people of every age respond to the small things we do so much that us servers could probably write a book on it. When I train somebody it’s 40% how to serve and 60% how to phrase the simplest thing as to not insult or irritate the customer.

I don’t know if you’ve worked customer service but it’s basically a game of trying to keep people from throwing stuff at you. I know I can have a major affect on somebodies day with just my tone of voice. I always admired those women who could make a customer feel like an idiot deep down but still somehow not come across as that rude.
