I was about to ask "what was the storm about, then" when I realized: a moral panic (am I using the term correctly?) does not need sources — it is fueled by ignorance and fear of the unknown.

My mother kept nagging me about spending "all the time at the computer", citing "the computer" as the source of all of my ailments and diseases when I was living with my parents. She uses the home PC, but her usage is limited to social networking with her dozens of friends. She doesn't understand when my father or I enjoy "this whole shooting thing", even when strategies and RPGs are involved, and bothers the hell out of her. She doesn't see the difference.

I recognize that education is a powerful tool in overcoming biases and prejudice, but how can you teach your way out of the "new age witchery" thinking?
