Well I definitely want it to be a euphemism now, but alas, it is very real. I have a hive in my backyard, and I just needed to get it ready for winter so my dad doesn't have to deal with them.

Basically, it just involves plugging the entrance hole with straw so that the bees don't try to keep foraging if it gets warm in the winter (fun fact: the bees basically all leave the hive as a pack to take a group shit mid-winter, so you have to keep a small part open).

Then you have to fill up a feeder with syrup/meds for them so they don't starve in the winter. Then it's just checking for mold/pests/protecting them from mice etc.
