I chose not to lie from a very young age because I didn't want to create even more bullshit for people in my life. I don't have to say something I don't want to say, but if I choose to, it must be true. I think both things come from my mother being a narcissist: that way - by omitting some stuff - I can get by without upsetting "people" (one person) and receiving more harm that I can't defend myself against.
