I've never thought I looked right in a proper hat. I wonder how much of that just stems from the fact that they've never been in style during my lifetime and they just rarely look "right" on anybody? I suppose if I lived during the twenties, saying I didn't "look right" in a hat would be the equivalent of saying I never looked right in shoes.
