Its funny that they start with a Coke anecdote. At my high school (also, coincidentally in 1998) it was Pepsi. We had one Coke machine in the cafeteria and one near the gym. Each was disabled during school hours, except during lunch time. Then the school signed a deal with Pepsi. At that point the two Coke machines were dispensed with, and there was a Pepsi machine in (literally) every hallway. Also, students were all of a sudden allowed to drink product purchased in one of the vending machines during class, and were explicitly allowed to request a hall pass to visit one of the machines. It was truly comical, in a the-world-is-fucked kind of way.
