This kind of gathering needs to be opt-in. I would guess that the Obama administration was only willing to consider limiting the NSAs storage of "meta data" as they knew that Verizon would be holding it for them. It's cheaper that way. That's why I don't have cable TV. Paying to watch a commercial makes me feel dirty.If we do our jobs right, we actually become an anti-spam because we’re not sending stuff on a wide-basis saying they’re in a demographic… We’re doing this on a one-to-one basis even though we’re marketing on an aggregate anonymous because we’re able to just view everything they do.
They used to say, “If you’re not paying for it, you’re the product.” But now you can be paying $80 a month for it, and still be the product.
