veen has shouted me out. So let me be clear: I am not the user who has made 20K corrections on Wikipedia. I'm dedicated, but not obsessive.

I also think there's a point where "wrong" segues into actual usage and then into "right enough" and finally becomes "more or less OK for now" before it passes out of usefulness (like boyfriends, _refugee_).

For example, I'm aware that I'm losing the battle over less-fewer. Eventually all we'll have left will be 'less". I will quietly mourn "fewer" as it is handy to use with countable nouns, but I will not obsessively correct all the misuses in Wikipedia. Watch for a #writebetterdammit blog on less-fewer.

The fact that Wikipedia exists is amazing, and if we are generally sceptical, it can be a reliable resource (ambiguity noted).
