Growing up, it was widely acknowledged that the ugliest cars ever made were the AMC Pacer

and AMC Gremlin.

Which was uglier was the subject of much debate; arguments could be made either way and often were after several beers. And so it continued unabated until the year 2000, when Pontiac saw fit to bless us with... that thing.

Have you ever seen a car commercial labor so hard to not show you the car? I mean, the first Infiniti ads were just Donald Sutherland's rambling voiceover as the camera slowly panned across the windblown heath but there's so much Video Toastery goodness in that commercial, all of it laboring deleriously to hide the fucking car from the viewer. It's like the dance of the seven veils except Honey Boo Boo's mom is behind the silk.

Anyway. The question then became Pacer, Gremlin or Aztek? Except the game was no longer fun anymore. It was always Aztek.

A couple years later Honda came out with the Element, but not even it could approach the wretchedness of the Aztek. Dodge made a run at it with the Caliber but the Aztek is kind of the absolute perigee of automotive design.
