For example in the US it’s the Electronic Communication Privacy Act which prohibits us from looking into the accounts of users proactively and look for things. It’s like mail, it’s private, we cannot just go in there and police what these users are uploading. I want to know more about this. Is this true? How are they supposed to police it if they can't look at it? I guess the real reason they got in trouble was they weren't actually taking down the DMCA'd files, just the links so it doesn't matter.
