Comedian Jim Jefferies faced similar criticism for not casting a disabled actor in the roll of his disabled friend, for the show "Legit" (which is great, btw); turns out that he wanted to, but the demands of shooting would have made it impossible. However, he did end up casting some other disabled actors anyway - recurring character Rodney (Nick Daley), guest stars Brad Williams and Verne Troyer, and others.
