I disagree with this bit. On the micro/local level, it's really, really hard to find some people's music outside of a physical format. I buy a ton of music (cassettes and LPs) that I wouldn't necessarily be able to find online. Plus, I guess this is the moral obligation, but I like knowing that when I'm buying music at a local level or a local level for some scene in Virginia, I am directly supporting that artist or small-time label that they're on. Especially when both likely to be losing money. My consumption definitely aren't the norm though, and I don't really use streaming services (P4K advance and NPR First Listen notwithstanding) or YouTube in any capacity to listen to music. There is no incentive to buy music anymore apart from a moral obligation.
