I really can't decide if this is meant to be satire or if the author is just an idiot... Yes, those 21+ young people who are away from home for the first time. Seriously, when the hell are we supposed to treat people as grown-ups nowadays? When they are in their 30's? After they have had two kids and a divorce? But let's step past that blunder. Let's ignore each of the logical fallacies concealed behind the sarcasm. This law is being cast as "guns in schools", when it is actually "guns allowed on yet another type of property". Legally, you are entitled to a gun in your home, on the side of the street, at your favorite restaurant, and at work (Though technically an employer can fire you for any reason they like). But for some reason, "on university campuses" is seen as a place where you do not have the same right to defend yourself. You are not entitled to the choice to adequately defend yourself. If an ill party decides to attack you (Of course not with a gun though. Hey, they are law-abiding, too, right?), your only options are to: 1. Run away. 2. Hide quietly behind the nearest lecture hall chair. 3. Resort to your favorite martial arts. But if your MMA isn't too hot, you've just got to hope that law enforcement will eventually show up to stop the offending party...usually with a gun. Some of my colleagues are concerned that you are encouraging firearms within a densely packed concentration of young people who are away from home for the first time, and are coincidentally the age associated with alcohol and drug experimentation, and the commission of felonies.
