It's not hard to concentrate but you have to actively want to do it. You have to want to turn your phone on silent, put it face down, close your facebook, and focus on the task at hand. The problem isn't necessarily that kids don't know how to do this. It's that they don't want to. Facebook and text messages are way more fun that sitting down and reading a book - especially one assigned to them. I even find it hard to sit and read a book for a long period if it doesn't fully engage me, simply because I know I have more interesting and fun things to do. If I'm camping or on the boat without my computer, I can read for hours simply because there is nothing else I want to do more. There is no way for me to hop on my computer and go to hubski.
