Bit of a story to this mistake, but it sticks with me to this day. On my 21st birthday, I got taken to the most packed, loudest, most obnoxious bar in my town.(Ricks in East Lansing for anyone familiar with MSU) At the time, I was pledging a fraternity, and a few of my brothers-to-be were helping with pre-game and came to the bar with me. I was dressed in jeans and a button down initially, but before we left for the bar I was somehow conned into wearing a neon green wig and a basketball jersey over all of that. (About half a fifth of vodka and 3 pints deep at this point, very suggestible) Here's where things get interesting. After about an hour at the bar (And 3 Hurricanes later) I ran into an absolutely gorgeous young woman from one of my classes the semester before, whom I didn't recognize initially because A, I was really drunk and B, she always wore sweats and a hoodie to class and I didn't recognize her in 4 inch heels (with red bottoms), a backless black dress and her hair all done up. After her initial shock at my appearance, and lack of recognition we talked for a bit, flirted for a bit longer than we talked, and we agreed to meet back at the bar in 20 minutes to go to a quieter one after saying goodbye to our friends and finishing our drinks. When I got back to my friends, they had ordered a platter of tequila shots and at this point my memory has a blank spot about 4 hours wide. I never got back to the bar, to a beautiful and intelligent girl who wanted to spend the rest of my 21st with me. I now make a point to seize opportunities for spontaneous romance with as much vigor as I can because of that one mistake.
