This is one of those things that keep me from going to certain sites or even taking things from those sites seriously. I have lost almost all trust with online news sources and their claims. It's bad enough when article titles are directly contradictory to their content (such as what you see in default subreddits) but then you realize that there isn't really anything in place to stop this from happening. Most people don't follow up after they read a article and once it's gone viral enough to be fact checked companies have already cashed their cheques. Add that to the laissez-faire attitude of many community moderators and the lack of tools given to average users and things just get worse, not better.
